We are teachers, not just tutors.
A Note from Our Founder
When I founded Whetstone Education, it was in response to something I found increasingly difficult to ignore.
The world of tutoring had become crowded and, in many cases, unregulated. Too often, individuals without the depth of knowledge or teaching experience were presenting themselves as educators. For families, schools, and agents, it was becoming harder and harder to know who to trust.
As a Cambridge graduate and experienced teacher, having started my career at Rugby School, I had seen first-hand what outstanding teaching looks like and how transformative it can be. I felt strongly that this standard should not be confined to the classroom.
Whetstone began as a small group of teachers, colleagues and peers from leading schools, who wanted to deliver high-quality teaching beyond their day-to-day roles. What started organically has grown into a network of over 250 exceptional educators from top UK independent and international schools.
Over the past decade, I have focused on building that network carefully, ensuring that quality remains at the heart of everything we do. Today, we work with families, schools, and partners around the world, but our core principle remains unchanged: great teaching matters.
Alongside my work with Whetstone, I continue to work within the school environment as Director of Global Partnerships at Rugby School, and as Academic Director of Pippa’s Guardians. This dual perspective, across both schools and the wider education landscape, shapes how we support our clients and maintain the standards we set.
Whetstone exists to bring clarity, quality, and trust back into this space, and to ensure that students are always learning from the very best.
