TUTORING & TEACHING EXPERIENCE:
Gavin is an experienced, TEFL-certified university lecturer and private tutor from London. He holds a BA in English from Jesus College, Oxford, an MPhil from Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, and a DPhil from St Catherine’s College, Oxford. He has taught English Literature at the University of Oxford, working with visiting students from Harvard and Columbia, and has lectured at the University of Southampton. He is currently Assistant Professor of Literary and Cultural Studies at SWPS University in Warsaw and holds research fellowships at both King’s College London and the School of Advanced Study (University of London).

Gavin has a strong track record of helping students achieve success in school entrance exams, A Levels, and university applications. He has guided students through 11+ and 13+ preparation, with successful admissions to leading schools including Radley, Sevenoaks, Harrow, Eton, and Rugby. He also coaches students for the John Locke Institute Essay Competition and the Harvard International Review Contest, with many shortlisted, commended, and advancing to Defence Day.

Alongside this, Gavin regularly prepares students for Oxbridge applications, running mock interviews and supporting them with personal statements and written work. He has delivered thousands of hours of one-to-one tutoring to students from the UK, China, East Asia, and Europe, combining clear explanations, tailored support, and an engaging teaching style.

EXTRA-ACADEMIC INTERESTS:
Outside teaching, I enjoy visiting art galleries and exploring contemporary exhibitions. I am also writing a book about colonialism, which combines my academic interests with my love of history and culture. I am a devoted Liverpool Football Club supporter, and when I am not writing or watching football, I am usually spending time with my kitten.
